Artist Talk: Kehayr Brown-Ransaw In Conversatin with Rekhet Si-Asar

Kehayr Brown-Ransaw will discuss his exhibit “to have never known” with Rekhet Si-Asar during this virtual artist talk. The exhibit is a beautiful collection of quilts Kehayr made based on his research of census data of more than 40,000 children abducted into slavery after the transatlantic slave trade was banned by Congress in the United States.

Kehayr is a textile artist, educator and curator. He is an Artist-In-Residence at the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery where his exhibit ‘to have never known” is on display now through June. For more information about Kehayr and his work: https://www.kehayr.com/

 

Rekhet is the executive director of In Black Ink, located in St. Paul, which is a non-profit publishing organization that creates spaces where the stories and voices of people of African heritage are celebrated, documented and archived through publication, professional development training opportunities and public presentations.
